The band has a long history dating back to 1966 when it was one of the first twenty school bands set up in Singapore. The band started with only twelve pioneer members and has grown to a membership of 60. It is one of the oldest of all uniformed groups in Dunearn Secondary School.

The band attained a Silver Award at the “Australian Music Festival” in June 2000, a Silver Medal at the “Singapore Youth Festival 2007” and a Silver Award at the “21^st Century International Band Competition” held at Genting Highland in December 2007. The band also participated in competitions like the “National Band Competition”. Recently, the band took part in the “Singapore International Band Competition 2008” and achieved a Bronze Award.

All in all, we are satisfied with our overall performance. We believe that success of a band should not be measured merely in terms of medals and certificates achieved from competitions. Rather, it is more of how much each individual member benefited from the experience of working as a team sharing, the satisfaction of trying hard and the willingness to face all odds.
