Born in Wakayama Prefecture, Yasuto Tanaka won the first prize at 4th Japan Wind and Percussion Instruments Competition (Saxophone section) when he studied at Kunitachi College of Music. The late Marcel Mule praised his sound as "He has a great talent with internal poems." He got a Yatabe Award while in school and performed in TV, radio programs and a wide range of activities in many countries as a soloist after graduation.
He also has had great successes as a baritone saxophone player of saxophone quartet "Trouvere Quartet" which marked its 20th anniversary in 2007 has made the successful performance in Europe.
Mr. Tanaka has released over 10 CDs in the past, including "Rhapsody", "Saxophobia" and "A Gershwin Cocktail". He was awarded a grand prize at Cultural Affairs Agency Art Festival•Record section in 2001 and Kinokuni New Artist Award by Wakayama Prefecture in 2003.
He is an instructor at Showa Academia Musicae and junior college while playing an alto saxophone in Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra. |
