As a dynamic and energetic band director, Yeo Pai Tiong, Louis conducted varied ensembles of many levels that have won accolades locally and internationally. As a former student in Dunearn Secondary School, Louis actively involved himself with the band. He has come a long way from being a Drum major in his school days and work his way up to the band’s resident conductor. Other than his alma-mater, he also takes up residency of conducting bands of Greenridge Secondary School and Ngee Ann Secondary School. Formal musical training for Louis started in 2002 in the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) where he now graduated with a Diploma and Bachelor of Art Honors Degree validated by the University of Wales. He is also a recipient of Bertha Foster Scholarship from the University of Miami. Louis studied tuba with Tim Buzbee (Iceland Symphony Orchestra), David Kutz, Jacomo Bairos and Jason Decorthy (Tuba, Singapore Symphony Orchestra). Featured as a tuba soloist, he has performed with the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Symphonic Wind Ensemble, the Philharmonic Winds Youth Band, the Nanyang Polytechnic Symphonic Band, SOKA Wind Ensemble and Orchid Park Wind Orchestra. Besides, Louis learnt conducting from Vogel Hartung (NAFA Head of Studies, Orchestral Training and Chamber Music) and Eric Watson (NAFA Deputy Head of Department).
