Overview Review Photo Gallery

"Noisy Wheels of Joy", "Festive Overture Op.96" and "Voodoo"…a series of colorful music has been performed during the Tom Lee Hong Kong Youth NeoWinds Orchestra Annual Concert 2008 at 3:00pm on 4 April (Friday) at the Auditorium of the Tsuen Wan Town Hall.

Under the baton of Danilo Delfin and guest conductor Dr. Thomas E. Verrier, the orchestra performed a number of works, including D. Shostakovich's "Festive Overture Opus 96", Frank Ticheli's "An American Elegy", Eric Whitacre's "Noisy Wheels of Joy" and Percy Aldridge Grainger "Lincolnshire Posy".

A Brass Quintet and a Xylophone Soloist has been presented during the performance. The orchestra performed "Preludio y Danza del Alba" with the Hong Kong Oriental Brass. Formed by renowned local brass musicians from the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Danilo Delfin (Trumpet), Joseph Ngan (Trumpet), Shum Hing-cheung (Horn), Steve Kwan (Trombone) and Lam Wing-tsan (Tuba). The Hong Kong Oriental Brass has set its goal to share the splendor of high quality brass ensemble music with Hong Kong people. Emily Cheng, the Xylophone Soloist and the percussion principal of NeoWinds, performed "Xylo Classics" with the orchestra. This colourful medley combines classic hits from Georges Bizet's world-famous opera "Carmen", the ever popular "Rondo alla turca" from Mozart's Piano Sonata KV 331 which is generally known as "Turkish March" (Turkish Rondo), the electrifying "Csardas" by Vittorio Monti, and finally the sparkling "Allegro" from Gioacchino Rossini's overture to opera "William Tell".
