SEMINAR ON CHOPIN’S PIANO MUSIC - A CELEBRATION OF THE 200TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIS BIRTH
Overview

The seminar will cover Chopin’s musical style with illustrations from selected works. They will also include discussion on the use of suitable pieces for teaching purposes and address performance issues such as shaping of the line and pedalling.

 

The 1st session (9 Apr) will focus on short pieces, including Waltzes, Mazurkas, Nocturnes, Impromptus, and Berceuse.

 

The 2nd session (16 Apr) will look at the larger works, including Barcarolle, Fantasy, Scherzi, Ballades, Sonatas.
